NOTE March 2017: Marie Curie are really delighted with the response of the Syringe driver bag appeal, they have had 100s of bags delivered to them and due to storage problems they do not want any more at present. However, many local hospitals and hospices would be delighted with a gift of these bags. Before making these bags please check with your local hospital to make sure they are happy with this gift.
On behalf of Marie Curie Hospice Care I am asking anyone who can sew and has a little time on their hands, would you like to make some fabric bags to hold Syringe drivers?
Syringe drivers are often required to provide medicines for symptom management in patients who are terminally ill. The bags are made up using scrap fabrics. They must be washable. The bags are of tremendous benefit as it means transfers, using the bathroom and generally getting about is much easier for patient and nurses.
Each bag is donated to one person. They are not transferable due to the possibility of cross infection. Sadly, this means there is a constant demand. Syringe drivers are used in many hospitals and hospices up and down the country.
